PM condemns Sir Mek’s claims

The Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has condemned a statement by Moresby Northwest MP and former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta describing it as ‘rubbish’.

Sir Mekere said it is time for the Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, to stop talking and start acting, to stop blaming others for the mess the nation is in, and to introduce an immediate program of reform and reconstruction.

PM O’Neill in response to Sir Mekere’s statement told this newsroom that the process of Government is well entrenched and cannot be influenced or controlled by one person.

“This is totally rubbish”.

O’Neill further explained that the difference between Sir Mekere’s leadership and his was that he always get things done.

He added that his government does not protect foreign interest like Sir Mekere’s previous government.

Sir Mekere in a statement called on Mr O’Neill to stop blaming people for what the country is going through and take responsibility and admit what is being done.

Sir Mekere continued saying O’Neill has failed the nation adding that there are still thousands of terrified villagers reportedly sleeping in the open air, without shelter, or with inadequate shelter after the massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake.

However, O’Neill said Sir Mekere should be ashamed of himself after making incorrect claims about disaster relief operations following the Highlands Earthquake.
