Over K600,000 for Gulf festive Ops

The Gulf Provincial Government, Kerema District Development Authority and Kikori District Development Authority have come out big with funding support for the Christmas and New Year operations in the province.

During the Police Operations launch in Kerema yesterday, Gulf Provincial Administrator Emmanuel Xavier committed K400,000 on behalf of the Provincial Government while Kerema MP Thomas Opa presented a cheque of K150,000.

The Kikori DDA had presented K93,000 in November during the awareness phase of the operation.

This brings to a total of K643,000, this is over half a million kina committed for festive season security operations in the province.

While presenting the cheque, Opa said, “The money will go towards logistical support for the police operation such as fuel and food ration.”

He has also committed to work alongside the Police hierarchy to address the concerns of Police in Gulf. 

“I will work closely with Southern Region Commander Chief Superintendent Clement Dalla and PPC Jeffery Dalla to address concerns such as accommodation, manpower and logistical support,” he added.
