Northern Command will be up in full force

Police in the Northern Command will be up in full force during this festive season, and they are appealing to all citizens to observe the law.

Police in the three provinces of Morobe, Madang and Eastern Highlands, started their operations as of this week and will see it through to the New Year.

Divisional Commander Peter Guinness says they expect residents to respect the meaning of Christmas and New Year and celebrate peacefully.

"We have already commenced our annual festive season police operations, making sure our people are enjoying Christmas and New Year with their loved ones.

"Police will ensure people enjoy their Christmas and New Year without trouble," he said.

Guinness, who is also the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), is asking residents to respect their neighbours as well as the law.

"Police will not tolerate law breakers during this peak period," Guinness said.

He appealed to every citizen to observe the festive season with complete peace and harmony and respect for one another.
