The Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) has announced the recipients of the 2018 Archer Leadership Program.
The 2018 Archer Leaders are:
- Jetta Caleb, Economics, UPNG
- Zena Good, Science & Chemistry, UPNG
- Helen Yurus, Law, UPNG
- Joshua Kamilo, Information & Computer Science, UPNG
- Michel Mel, Medicine, UPNG
- Yvette Krimbu, Electrical Engineering, UNITECH
- Raylance Mesa, Architecture, UNITECH, and
- Damaris Wakip, Maths & Computer Science, Divine Word University
Finding and fostering the next generation of PNG’s young leaders, the program works with an exceptional cohort of final-year tertiary students, taking them on an intensive, experiential leadership development journey.
“We are so delighted with the strength, vision and calibre of the 2018 Archer Leaders,” said Dr Genevieve Nelson, CEO of KTF.
“They are an extraordinary group of committed, passionate and driven students, with big dreams for PNG.”
This year, KTF has increased the number of participants on the program from 6 to 8 with the support of a new partner, Wafi-Golpu Joint Venture, who is funding the program alongside the Fred P. Archer Trust, which has provided generous funding for the past 8 years.
The Wafi-Golpu project is a joint venture between Newcrest Mining and Harmony Gold.
Newcrest executive general manager – Wafi-Golpu, Craig Jones, said: "The Wafi-Golpu project has the potential to contribute to PNG for decades to come, and we expect to see the country grow and flourish in that time. Investing in PNG's future leaders is just one of the ways the project hopes to support a prosperous future."
The 2017 Archer Leaders also graduated from their year-long leadership development program at the ceremony in Port Moresby.
Lydia Dimokari reflected on their year in front of guests: “The Archer Leadership program is life-changing. It has set my future on a new trajectory. I have learnt so much about my leadership style and personality type and I’ve found my voice.”
The Archer Leaders Program is a nationwide program open to all final year tertiary students across PNG.
Program recipients participate in mentoring, tuition & boarding fees, educational & professional development resource support, work experience, community projects and a leadership exchange to Australia.
It is generously funded by the Fred P. Archer estate, managed by Perpetual Trustees, and the Wafi-Golpu Joint Venture.
