NCDPHA commend APIASETS graduates

Asia Pacific Institute of Applied Social Economics & Technical Studies held its 8th Graduation Ceremony on Friday December 9 at its Hohola Campus in NCD.

The Institute certified 9 Business Study Students, 13 Community Health workers from the School of Health Science and 10 graduated with a Diploma in General Nursing.

Guest of honour was CEO of NCD Provincial Health Authority and Gerehu General Hospital, Dr. Steven Yennie, who came with NCDPHA Director for Curative Health Dr. Michael Dokup.

The Director of the Institute, Thomas Pila was a proud man seeing a successful graduation of young men and women who would not have made it if not for the second chance given to them.

With the theme “Take advantage of any situation and move forward with it” was just what the students and the school administration did.  Helping them find a pathway to formal education and employment.

Thomas Pila said; “Working for the education department and education establishment has been a very difficult one but we’ve decided to accept this very noble profession to be with you always. So we are here to help you, we are here to support you and we are here to make sure you succeed and you get what you want to get. And I said in 2015 that I will not rest until I deliver Papua New Guinea. And I’m still around I’m not giving up.”

The school signed a 10-year agreement for students to do practical with the NCDCPHA. Currently the PHA has four previous graduates under their management on casual basis.

The school has also secured practical teaching space for a couple of their former students with the central provincial government education division.

Dr. Yennie said they recruited four students from the school to do practical in general nursing and they are doing well. Due to their example of dedication and diligence, Dr. Yennie has decided to recruit more from this school.

At the end of the graduation session, Dr. Yennie committed to recruit the top five performing graduates from Business Studies, Nursing and CHW to join Gerehu Hospital.
