NCD schools advised to resume on Aug 17

All schools and institutions under the National Education System (NES) in the National Capital District and Central Province are advised to open for normal classes on Monday, August 17th.

Education Minister, Joseph Yopyyopy, said after consultations with the government yesterday (Monday, August 10), the Department has been directed to advise all schools in NCD and Central to open for normal classes on August 17 and not Thursday, August 13, as previously instructed by the Controller.

“The two days will give schools and parents ample time to prepare for the resumption next week,” he stated.

“Teachers are advised to give more teaching and learning time to core subjects or subjects that will be examined.

“The wearing of masks is COMPULSORY. The NCD Education Services Division, Central Provincial Government, other provincial governments and District Development Authorities (DDAs) must provide reusable masks to their students and teachers.

“The Government has considered all the implications of the education of the students before it took the decision to reopen the schools in NCD and Central.

“Whilst the government is reopening schools, it is completely necessary for all teachers, parents, partners and stakeholders involved in the education of our children to remain vigilant and lead in the transition into the ‘new normal’ safety orders and health advices to prevent and control COVID-19 in schools and our country.”
