According to recent Daily Crime Summary Reports provided by the office of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Chief Operations Jim Andrews, the nation’s Capital Port Moresby has recorded 42 per cent of all crimes reported throughout the country.
Enga follows after NCD with a recorded 31 per cent. Oro, Simbu, Manus all reported below 5 per cent. All other Provinces reported no major incidents.
Stealing offences reported the highest, with 25 reported cases of which 4 arrests were made.
There were 15 murder offences reported of which 13 arrests were made, followed by grievous bodily harm with 11 reported cases of which only one arrest was made.
All other reported crimes around the country reported nil to a maximum of five in their respective offences.
Commissioner of Police Gari Baki said these statistics were only of crimes that were actually reported at the various police stations around the country.
Baki said police are continuously working around the clock to maintain peace and good order throughout the country.
