Marum is okay

Apart from the PNG Kumul’s jubilant win making headlines last night, focus was also on the wellbeing of the coach Michael Marum, who was taken to hospital shortly after the historic match.

Speaking to PNG Loop this morning, the Media Manager for PNG Rugby League, Ephata Samuel, confirmed that whilst Marum was taken in for checks, he assures that the coach is okay.

Samuel says that Marum was experiencing discomfort in his right arm and was checked by medical officers while in the dressing room after the match.

“He was advised to just go into hospital just for clearance and checks.

“All tests came back okay, and he was cleared to be released”.

Samuel says that an official statement will be released by management later today but took the opportunity to thank all fans and concerned citizens who enquired about Marum’s wellbeing following reports of him being taken into hospital last night.

“The coach and the boys will be on rest today, they had a recovery session in the morning and will take the rest of the day off.

“They come back into training starting tomorrow, ready for their next game this coming Sunday against Ireland”.
