Police in Madang have arrested two suspects who were alleged to have been involved in a murder at Naru village in Usino Bundi on December 22.
Provincial Police Commander Superintendent David Seine Jr said one of the suspects was arrested on the same day, while the other who is alleged to be the main suspect was on the run until his apprehension by the police officers from Walium.
PPC Seine Jr said according to a police brief, it was alleged that the deceased identified as Newman James adult male from Waput village was at Naru to organise a soccer tournament when he was stabbed to death.
The PPC thanked the people for assisting the police in supplying information that led to the arrest of the suspects, who is now in police custody.
“He will be charged accordingly for the offenses he was alleged to have committed. I also want to thank the police officers who worked hard to respond and apprehended both suspects.”
