Leaders’ Summit rescheduled

The Chief Secretary to Government, Isaac Lupari, has announced that the Leaders’ Summit has been deferred to February 27-28, immediately before the next sitting of Parliament.

Originally planned for last week, Lupari said the meeting was pushed back after a number of provincial delegations experienced travel delays.

“There were a number of governors and provincial officials who were unable to arrive for the Wednesday morning meeting,” the Chief Secretary said.

“Their inclusion in discussions is important, so the Leaders’ Summit will now take place before the next sitting of Parliament convenes in the afternoon of 28 February.

“This will afford the opportunity for more provincial leaders to be in attendance to discuss development and growth strategies for Papua New Guinea.

“On behalf of the Government, I thank the departmental secretaries, heads of statutory agencies, public sector staff and members of diplomatic and business communities for their attendance.”

Lupari said formal invitations will be issued in the coming weeks.
