The man who was arrested over the brutal murder of Education Department staff, the late Grace Gavera, has asked the National Court for bail on medical grounds.
The National Court will give its ruling on the bail application today.
Hela man, Andy Paro from Tari, is alleged to have brutally beaten and slashed his partner from Aroma in the Central province, the late Grace Gavera, at Erima on November 23, 2018.
He has been in custody since November 27, 2018, and had his lawyer go before the National Court seeking bail yesterday.
Paro is currently receiving medical treatment at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
His lawyer put to the court that Paro has lost a lot of weight, despite being advised by his doctor to eat a balanced meal – something his lawyer claims is not provided at the Bomana Correctional Institute due to ‘funding issues’.
Prosecution opposed the bail application.
The court will give a ruling today.
