Late MP’s casket to lie in state

The casket of late Ambunti-Dreikikir MP, Ezekiel Anisi, will be lying in State at the Grand Hall of Parliament tomorrow morning.

Viewing of the body at 10am will be open to Members of Parliament, Departmental Heads and Members of the diplomatic corp.

At 11am, the public funeral service to celebrate the life of the first term MP, from East Sepik Province, will be held at the Reverend Sione Kami Memorial Church.

According to the official program released by the Office of the National Parliament Speaker, the casket will be flown to Wewak on Friday, concluding the State organised funeral.

A family member who spoke to Loop PNG said no official program has been organised by the East Sepik Provincial Government, and also the Ambunti-Dreikikir District Development Authority, to receive the casket.

Late Anisi collapsed and died on 24 May in Port Moresby, a day before departing to Wewak to campaign for the Ambunti-Dreikikir Open seat.

The first term MP was elected into Parliament at the age of 25, after polling 11,200 votes in the 2012 Elections.
