At last, a sealed road!

Residents of Buin town in South Bougainville can now enjoy a smooth and enjoyable ride on their recently-sealed roads.

A project that had been a dream since independence, it is an eye-opener and a milestone for the South Bougainvillean main centre.

Buin town resident, Jennifer Rangis, told Loop PNG that shop owners and mothers selling items at the roadside markets won’t complain about dust anymore.

“We are now very happy and we would like to thank the authorities for the sealing of Buin town, at least our little lovely town here has now gone into some standard,” Miss Rangis said.

“All over Buin town, the sealing of the streets is now the talk of the town and even the neighbouring Solomon Islanders, coming in to Buin market, regard Buin town as their town too, and they are also happy,” stated the resident.

“We really feel the presence of the government right now because this project is jointly funded by the National Government and AusAID.”

Raibro Limited was awarded the contract after completing the second phase sealing of the John Teosin Highway on Buka Island.
