Landowners seek answers from Opposition

The Gabadi landowners are seeking assistance from the Opposition to further use all systems of governance to fight their case in regards to the controversial land deal.

The landowners met with the Opposition on Thursday and raised their concerns.

Landowner and Chairman of the Gabadi village pressure group, John Ovia asked the Opposition to step in, to help reclaim the land which Defence Minister, Fabian Pok and State Enterprise Minister, William Duma are both being implicated.

The land in question is portion 406, 411, 415, 422, 423 and 154.

Ovia and fellow landowners have called on outsiders involved in the land deal to free up their land.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Don Polye in a statement said they have written to the Fraud Squad to fully investigate the K46.6 million controversial land.

He said his team will also provide every available information to the Ombudsman Commission on the controversial land deal.

Polye described the way the land was obtained as “suspicious and fraud” adding that Opposition will stand together with the landowners to ensure they get their land back.

Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare who joined the Opposition and attended the meeting with the landowners said he supports their fight to reclaim their land.

Former Attorney General, Kerenga Kua also advised the landowners to involve their MPs and Governor to broaden their fight to reclaim their land.
