Laloki issue administrative, not industrial

Health Secretary, Pasco Kase, is requesting an urgent meeting with the CEO of Laloki Psychiatric Hospital.

This follows media publications about the staff planning industrial action if they don’t receive a favourable response from the Health Department after it carries out a workforce assessment to determine the hospitals workforce structure.

Health Secretary Pasco Kase said there are issues with the proposed structure.

He said the proposed structure does not comply with set standards and did not meet the requirements of the law.

Kase wants the Acting CEO of Laloki Psychiatric Hospital to go to the Health Department and talk to the Human Resource Team.

He said it’s not good publishing false statements in the social media.

The Health Secretary re-iterated that he is working in a public office and does his job according to set policies and the public hospitals Act.

Kase asked the CEO to urgently meet with him and not to use industrial means for this administrative matter.

He stressed that he wants to improve the health systems structures but do it according to set policies.
