Internal Affairs begins investigations into HB raid

The Police Internal Affairs Office in NCD has today started investigations into the Hanuabada destruction allegedly caused by policemen under the influence of alcohol.

Eyewitness and community security leader, Fred Bau, alleged that policemen fired shots, destroyed stalls and markets belonging to vendors near their village yesterday morning.

The claims were leveled against 5 suspects; 3 in police uniform and another 2 in civilian.

NCD/Central Commander, Assistant Commissioner Sylvester Kalaut, confirmed that the incident took place along a roadside market along Hanuabada Village.

Shaken by the incident, villagers could not comment on the reason behind the incident.

Officers from the Internal Affairs Office say they will investigate the issue and reveal details soon.

Kalaut said the Constabulary will not tolerate such abuses and will continue with their effort to detect, charge and discipline members who are implicated or are in breach of the Constabulary Standing Orders.
