I am better educated than you: Kuman tells Juffa

“I am better educated than you.”

This was the response from the Minister for Education Nick Kuman to Gary Juffa during question time in Parliament this morning.

Juffa raised a point of order after South Bougainville MP Timothy Masiu questioned the Minister for the roll out of the Tuition Fee Free (TFF) in the Autonomous region of Bougainville.

Juffa said children have been leaving schools especially boarding schools because the TFF funds were not reaching the schools on time and the policy was not working.

“TFF is not reaching the schools on time and the schools are unable to fund the food and the basic supplies they need to maintain the boarding institution.

“In many instances throughout the entire country, TFF is not reaching schools and let us not mislead the Parliament that TFF is working very well.

“Be realistic and say that it is a project in progress and not mislead our people,” said Juffa.

Education Minister Nick Kuman in response told Juffa that he was politicizing the issue with aim to spoil the government.

He further challenged Juffa to outline what he’d do if he was in government.

“What is the alternative education policy you will provide?

“This is the best policy so far and it is working very well.”

Kuman continued and explained that the delay in the TFF payment not reaching schools on time was because of the cash flow problem the country was facing.

He called on Juffa assist students rather than attacking people on social media.

“You are elected to parliament to also share those responsibilities and not to go to facebook and start attacking other people.”

His response created a roar of laughter among the MPs in the chamber.

However, Juffa responded and called on him to better know the use of internet.

Kuman responded: “I am better educated than you are.”

Meanwhile, Parliament had been adjourned to 10am tomorrow.
