Homicide cases still under investigation

There are still several incomplete homicide cases from 2017 which are still with CID and Homicide.

These cases include the body of the young man found dead at the Treasury building, the shooting of the former BDA Chairman, Fred Konga as well the case of veteran journalist, Rosalyn Albaniel Evara.

Officer in Charge for Homicide, John Daviaga said the cases haven’t had any new development yet therefore; CID hasn’t had the opportunity to arrest anyone as yet either.

He said the division is hoping to get some leads on the cases and arrest suspects.

It was earlier reiterated also by NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’Dranou, that major cases that are currently being looked at will not be discussed openly.

This is because any information that is speculated or disclosed by homicide police will not be accepted in court later as evidence and police will need to be meticulous about the cases.

“It is safe to say that homicide is investigating the case but it requires time and effort.

“We need to be meticulous about the cases,” says the NCD police boss.

He adds it is a slow investigative process and homicide will need to be careful not to overlook important steps that should be followed before the case goes before the court.

Meanwhile, the case for the shooting of a young man at Erima allegedly by police is currently under investigations as well.

The five bullet shells from the shooting scene was handed over to the forensic unit to be screened for prints and is now with ballistics to be check if the shells match and fit into the firearm that was used in that incident.
