Haveita: “No pipeline out of Gulf” policy still stands

Gulf Governor, Chris Haiveta reiterated that he stands by the “no pipeline out of Gulf Province policy”.

Governor Haiveta confirmed that his provincial government will negotiate establishment of the plant with Oil Search Limited and other stakeholders.

While Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta has made his stance clear that he supports the “no pipeline out of Gulf Province policy”, he has also confirmed that with the support of the National Government, he will negotiate equitable and fair benefits from the LNG projects.

He stated that the Gulf provincial government will negotiate establishment of mini LNG plant and mini oil refinery in the province.

He says this process has started already and Oil Search Limited, Kumul Petroleum and MRDC were in Gulf recently to present their options to the Gulf Governor.

Haiveta has also engaged former Secretary for Department of Petroleum and Energy Rendal Rimua, and former CHEVRON AND Interoil Executive, Isikeli Taureka.

This team of experts with vast experience will assist in negotiating a better outcome in the industry for Gulf Province.
