Gelu: Beware – Paradise Kingdom is not a political party

A group of individuals posing as a political party called the “Paradise Kingdom” are soliciting funds from various people.

This has come to the attention of the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates, Dr Alphonse Gelu, who says they have no such political party on record.

Speaking to Loop PNG, Gelu said they have received calls from various individuals and intending candidates around the country about the group which have been collecting funds from people.

“For us at the Registry of Political Parties i would like to advise the public not to entertain that particular group because according to our records we don’t have a registered political party called ‘Paradise Kingdom.’

“If they’re out there seeking money finance from individuals and from groups I would warn the general public from entertaining that group,” he said.

The alleged activities by the group hinge on false pretense and fraud and can be referred to police for investigation.

Gelu says it is a norm for opportunists to make an easy buck, especially during the elections when a lot of money is thrown around.

He says a notice will be put out to inform the general public about the group.

“Paradise Kingdom is not a registered political party and will not be contesting the 2017 General Election as a political party.

“So people must not be misled by this sort of fraudulent activities,” he said.
