Frustrated tribesmen block off highway

Frustrated relatives of the late police officer, who was killed in Enga weeks ago, have blocked off the Highlands Highway since yesterday.

These are the immediate tribesmen of late police officer, Glen Jimi Golang, from Aviamp Village, in Jiwaka Province. The late officer was killed in Wabag six weeks ago along with his colleague, Alex Kopa, from Simbu Province.

The two officers were shot dead during the recent general election.

Chief Nicholas Kuman said they are showing their frustration because responsible authorities are not responding to their petition since the time of incident.

“It’s the third time we have gone on air. Unfortunately, we have not received any reasonable response from the authorities who were responsible for the brutal murder of Glen Golang and Alex Kopa,” said the chief.

“We have sent them petitions…this is a last resort.

“The ball is in the Government’s court. If they want to come and address us, we’ll be here, the roadblock will be here.”

The Government is urged to be reasonable as economic activities along the highway are being hindered.

The bodies of the two officers are still at the funeral home.

Meantime, the travelling public is now using the Kindeng-Banz Road.
