Family identifies Kinakon body

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Barbara Touai, who was a mother-of-two from Goilala, Central Province.

Last seen on Friday, her body was discovered around midday today (Feb 25) near a drain at Kinakon, outside Port Moresby.

Her emotional sister, Gloria Touai, said she could not believe that this was her sister lying there.

She said she last spoke with her sister on Friday, when the victim told her she would be visiting her older child.

The late Barbara and her friends had then gone to an outdoor club called the White House, which is located in the same area.

As reported by police, the deceased’s face has been disfigured.

She was found today with traces of blood on the cloth covering her head; no other wounds were visible.

Police have already been alerted with a vehicle from the 15-Mile police station on site.

The body was found in a swampy area at Kinakon, just near the Pacific Adventist University and a few kilometers away from Marianville and IBS campus.

The body was still there even when it started raining, surrounded by family members who refused to move.

The family identified her by her clothes and markings on her body.
