Welcoming the jets were Minister for Transport, Wesley Nukundj, Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, APEC Secretary General, Sir Charles Lepani, Australian Defence Force officers and others.
Nukundj said the arrival of jet signifies that PNG is prepared to host the APEC in terms of security preparations.
The two jet fighters are here as part of APEC 2018 preparations.
The hosting of APEC involves a joint security operation with partners, including Australia, with security elements including jets and co-operation for land and maritime security.
More than 200 lead-up meetings will take place, beginning with the APEC Transportation Minister’s Meeting in Port Moresby tomorrow, leading to the APEC Summit in 2018.
The Two FA18 Super Hornets will be doing a demonstration of capability and a briefing, and then on departure will do a fly-over of Ela Beach.
Nukundj thanks the Royal Australian Air Force for bringing the two jets to PNG.
Meanwhile, delegations have been arriving in the country for the 10 APEC Transport Ministers Meeting.
The meeting will commence tomorrow, October 6th and end on Sunday October 8th.
