Acting administrator Samson Akunai made this known during an end of year parade in Goroka today.
He said next year, he will allocate some funds to look after those core functions, despite the fact that it’s a government obligation.
"They are within our province and they are providing government services to us," he said.
Member for Unggai Bena and Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, Benny Allan, also shared similar sentiments.
He said his people of Unggai Bena also benefit from the police service in Goroka, therefore he would like to take some of the responsibility and assist police in his electorate.
He appealed to his people to work with police for a better Eastern Highlands Province.
