Education services will go online: Minister

The Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Pila Niningi, says there are plans to overhaul services by introducing various online interfaces.

This year the education ministry will be rolling out the online application system that will allow Grade 12 school leavers to apply online, choosing up to five preferences.

Then in 2019, online degree programs and online registration for enrolment to institutions will be offered.

Minister Niningi noted that there will be other rollouts of many programs to improve the interface of education in the country, especially with the boom in technology and the internet era.

He stated that in 2020 and onward, services such as institutional registration and program accreditation will be offered online.

The minister said the policy submission on reforming, transforming and unifying the higher education system in PNG will enable the carrying out of strategic plans aimed at introducing necessary changes to the higher education sector.
