Eda Ranu jobs secured

No one will lose their jobs as a result of the merger between Water PNG Ltd and Eda Ranu.

This was reiterated by Minister for Public Enterprise and State Investment, William Duma following the recent announcement of the merger of business operations of the two SOE’s which will unify under one roof an extensive range of specialists personnel and expertise.

“The government believes that by having one single company managing those services, the service that will be provided will be more efficient,” says Minster Duma.

Duma said in a circular issued by Kumul Consolidated Holdings managing director to the two entities that none of the employees of both companies will lose their entitlements in the process of the merger.

“In fact, there is a need for more people to men the new water supply system work when the merger takes place and the same people to men the current system as well.”

Duma adds that with the new merged entity, centre like Banz, Minz and Tari who currently does not have a water supply system can be looked at under one entity to get their own system in place.

“That mean, we will need additional staff. The current employees that we have in both Water PNG and Eda Ranu will not be able to provide service for the new centres.”

He further stated someone is misconstruing the facts and deliberately spreading rumours.

“No one will lose his or her job.”
