Donations still pouring in

In a show of solidarity, Badili Hardware has donated a 12,000 litre (3000 gallon) Tuffa tank for the misplaced families of Hanuabada village.

Sivar Raman, manager procurement and projects, said this donation is their first.

The hardware house will also supply building materials later.

"We understand there is shortage of fresh water so we donate the tank first," he said.

Eda Ranu also came by with a donation of K10,000 in cash and a promise of water supply.

"Once your tank is on a solid position, I will authorise water carts to come in and fill it up immediately. We also have engineers from this village whom I have tasked to make sure water pipes and taps are installed so your daily lives are not disrupted," said Dr Fifaia Matainaho, chief operating officer.

He said the company has also set up an internal appeal team to collect personal donations in kinds of blessings and cooking utensils, from Eda Ranu's 200-plus workers.

"We understand it is painstaking but Eda Ranu joins you to bring back a once thriving community," he said.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the community, Mea Isaac thanked each company for their help.

"These will go a long way. It's motivating us to be positive through this time," she said.

More donations are still pouring into the village for the appeal.
