Criminals hold up woman, escape in car

Criminals held up a woman and drove off in her vehicle outside the Rev. Sione Kami Church at 9am yesterday.

The woman was said to have parked her car alongside a number of other vehicles at the Ela Murray car park just opposite the church.

Witness Anista Kombri, who is the G4S security guard on duty at the Ela Murray, says after she stepped out of her vehicle (Car Model- ARIA), a blue Mazda pulled up behind her and two men jumped out with what looked to be a homemade gun and a bush knife.

“They pointed it at her and told her to take her child and get out of the car, which the woman did,” says the witness.

The woman tried screaming however, seconds later, the Mazda moved forward allowing the stolen ARIA to pull back and both vehicles sped off towards the roundabout.

A complaint was laid at the Boroko Police Station.

Prior to yesterday’s incident, a complaint was also laid at the Town and Badili police stations on a Mazda that was held up and stolen the day before (Saturday), of which police allege could be the same one involved in the holdup incident yesterday.

A warning is being issued to all vehicle owners to take precautions when driving around the city and to look out for any suspicious activity and report to police as soon as possible.
