“2016 despite the challenges, PNG Defence Force has achieved many milestones."
PNGDF Commander Gilbert Toropo said this in his address during the Commanders End of Year Parade.
Toropo commend all his men of their work towards achieving the forces’ main aims and vision for 2016 despite it being a challenging and tough year.
He thanked and acknowledged those who have contributed immensely to the success of 2016 and for ensuring that priorities for 2016 were kept up to date and on track.
Commander Toropo spoke about the growth of the PNGDF through the recruitment as well as the establishment of the exercise being carried out by bilateral partners.
“I have observed the leadership provided by unit commanders throughout the PNGDF and I have seen improvement in the troop’s outlook and I commend you for achievements as well throughout 2016.”
He said they have also contributed effectively to ensure that our constitutional mandated duties are carried out including border patrols, support to major national events that the government have been hosting over the years.
The Commander called on the troops to continue to work together and look with confidence of things and new developments to come in 2017.
