Chinese President Xi Jinping to open new school

Chinese President Xi Jinping will open the state of the art Butuka Academy School of friendship next month.

The academy is a one-stop school that will accommodate elementary to secondary school students in one campus.

Education Minister Nick Kuman was given a walk- through of the new facility today, by Moresby-South MP and APEC Minister Justin Tkatchenko.

The construction of the K70 million, new Butuka Shenzhen academy, commenced on August 20 last year.

The school is an aid agreement for high impact projects between the Shenzhen city in China and the National Capital District.

It was built over a 50, 582 square meters.

The new education facility has 10 elementary, 26 Primary and 16 Secondary classrooms with a multi-function hall, sporting facilities and even 12 teachers apartments. 

The school will be officially opened on November 17 by Chinese President Xi Jinping, before the APEC leaders’ summit.

The school facility is the future of PNG schools, with touch-screen white boards, state of the art science labs and even music rooms.

Meanwhile, interviews for teaching positions have been completed and teachers will undergo IT training before the academic year starts.
