Chinese Embassy prepares for president’s visit

The Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Xue Bing, says the Chinese Embassy, like the PNG Government, is working around the clock to ensure the Chinese President’s visit to PNG is memorable.

Speaking at a recent event in Port Moresby, Xue believes with support from other partners, PNG will deliver a successful APEC meeting.

China, like many development partners, has come heavy to assist the PNG Government prepare for the APEC meeting in November 2018.

“We’ve been doing a lot to help PNG hold a successful APEC Meeting,” he said.

“We have helped to build the International Conference Centre. We helped to upgrade the Poreporena Freeway. We are also helping to build the Independent Boulevard in front of the Parliament House all the way to the Waigani Round. It’s about 1km long. When completed, it will be 6-lane, two way traffic.”

The Chinese Government has also supplied all sorts of vehicles from military to civilian trucks and buses to assist PNG prepare for APEC.

“The recent years have witnessed the frequent high level visits between our two leaders and increased bilateral relations in areas of trade, economy, education and health and people to people exchanges.

“These friendly interactions have brought tangible benefits to our people. This is why we see so many buildings arising in front of us.”

Ambassador believes that the Chinese President’s visit will also be a success.

“So president of China will come to POM in November for APEC hosted by PNG,” Xue said.

“I believe through the joint efforts of both countries, the president’s visit will be a success.  Now the Embassy is working very closely with the responsible department of PNG to prepare for such a visit because it will be the first time for such a visit, where the Chinese head of state is making a visit in this area and this country.”
