Brush up on security for SOM2

Certain aspects of security need to be tidied up for the smooth running of operational duties in preparation for the second Senior Officials’ Meeting in the nation’s capital.

However, with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary playing the role as the agency responsible in supporting the government to deliver the APEC Summit - the RPNGC is ready.

Commissioner for Police, Gari Baki, made this reassuring statement, adding that with the assistance given by the Australian Federal Police, the constabulary has come a long way with its preparations towards delivering the first senior officials’ meet in Port Moresby.

“We have used SOM1 to assist us in looking at what we need to tidy and come SOM2, we’ll be doing the same. When we have SOM3; that’s the final leg of producing the best haven possible in preparation for the main APEC event.”

Commissioner Baki is pleased with the progress so far with regards to operational duties.

“If there are any aspects of the preparations that the RPNGC needs to improve on, they will improve on it.”
