Bishop on PNG Tourism

Former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop shared during her speech at the 16th Mining and Petroleum Conference in Sydney Australia that Tourism in Papua New Guinea is a key area to look into for investment with Australia.

Minister Bishop was speaking about why Australia should invest more in PNG.

“I was particularly pleased to hear the Prime Minister talk about tourism because this is an area where we can partner much more closely with PNG.

I had the opportunity to talk to the Tourism Minister. Australians are great travelers. They love traveling around the world but when it comes to PNG they steer through the prism of the historic visits like Kokoda track. While that is still important, there is so much more that we could partner with PNG in relation to Eco-tourism, sensitive careful and considered,” she stated.
