Ban compensation claims: Police

The Enga Provincial Government has been called on to pass a law banning all forms of compensation payment in the province.

Enga Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Tondop, issued the call when addressing Aipiap and Lanekep tribes in the province after the death of four people in a road tragedy in Wabag town on Tuesday.

He condemned the action of the culprits who were attacking innocent lives in public places.

He reiterated that crimes in public area reflect unethical behaviour of the very people who own the township of Wabag, in particular Aipiap and Lanekep tribes.

He also extended his appeal to key stakeholders, including community leaders of neighbouring tribesmen, business houses and town development authorities, to work together with police to stabilise communities in the district.
