Aviation Security Recruits Trained

Fifty aviation security recruits are undergoing six weeks intensive training at the Bomana Police Training College outside Port Moresby.

The training is part of National Airport’s Corporation’s moves towards taking back one of its core functions, which is to provide in-house security services at its airports.

NAC Managing Director, Rex Kiponge said he was impressed with the progress so far.

“So far so good, I’m very impressed. Once completed, this program will be a game changer for NAC,” he said.

The training program includes intense physical training and classroom sessions that are intended to build the required physical fitness, instil discipline and positive attitude and impart the right knowledge and skills in implementing security measures at the airport.

The trainees were selected from over 600 applicants in a recruitment drive by the National Airports Corporation in 2021. NAC’s Aviation Security Trainers and Bati Security Services are co-delivering this training.
