ACP Crimes responds

The suspended as head of Crimes Division, Victor Isouve, is maintaining his innocence about the allegations that have been laid against which prompted his suspension on Friday 23rd March, 2018.

Isouve alleged that he had put together a six member team of investigators to look into allegations made against a senior officer of the police hierarchy by the complainant; a Malaysian man (named).

The Malaysian complainant was deported by the government on the 20th of June back in 2016.

Prior to his deportation, the certain senior police officer as well as a number of other senior officers of the hierarchy including immigration and migration officers seized the man against his will and he was locked up at a certain location (known).

Isouve explains that the National Court through Judge Polume Kiele had put out a court order that the Malay man should not be deported until his criminal case that was prepared to go before the court was sorted out.

Nonetheless, senior members of the hierarchy, immigrations and foreign affairs officials did not adhere to the court order and deported the Malay man (named) on 20th June 2016.

Isouve states the Malay man had made an official complaint to the office of APC Crimes before his deportation in 2016 relating to a number of criminal allegations implicating senior members of the hierarchy and government institutional officers.

The allegations mostly had to do with conspiracy, abuse of office and official corruption.

Isouve said due to his health condition was not able to look into the case until recently; last week on the 21st of March, set up a team on a fact- finding mission into on allegations levelled against the senior members of the hierarchy and government institution officers.

However, a day later, a notice was received at the office of the Deputy Commissioner stating that the investigations have been stopped and the unit to be disbanded.

Isouve said he did so as instructed in the notice and had the investigations stopped and the unit disbanded officially on Friday 23rd March but was served his suspension notice a few hours later.

“I was served the suspension notice by Deputy Police Commissioner, Jim Andrews, witnessed by ACP for Operations, David Manning.”

Isouve said generally speaking, looking at the reasons of suspension, he has done nothing wrong and he was just carrying out his duties as Assistant Commissioner for crime responsible for carrying out all investigations into allegations against anyone

“Whoever commits a crime must be investigated. If the case substantiated by necessary evidence, then we can take action. Everybody is innocent until proven guilty,” he said.
