ABG public consultations underway

The Autonomous Bougainville Government will be engaging in important consultations this month to discuss, understand and gather valuable information from communities on their perceptions on development in Bougainville.

All these efforts will go towards developing Bougainville’s Strategic Development Plan.

This plan will be the blueprint for future development in priority areas that will be identified through the consultations.

Chief Secretary to the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Joseph Nobetau, says the consultations are important as they will capture the needs of the people and enable ABG to develop a strategic plan that promotes inclusiveness at all levels of the community.

The consultations in Buin have already begun, with Port Moresby to follow suit.

While in Port Moresby, the team will also meet with AROB students studying at UPNG and the four Bougainville National Members.

The ABG welcomes the general views of the public on their vision for Bougainville, the government services they would like ABG to prioritise and how these can be achieved.

Due date for the submissions from the public will close on August 29th.
