​PMGH receives K110,000

The Port Moresby General Hospital has received a boost of K110,000 from the PNG Malaysian Association.

The Association this morning presented a cheque to CEO Dr. Umesh Gupta, while a further K30,000 has been donated to the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institution.

Gupta thanked the MAPNG for the support offered specifically to PMGH as this will assist in the improvements and changes in running and maintaining the hospital.

He said the money donated will be utilised on the hospital’s main current priority, which is to relocate the TB clinic from inside the hospital to the outside.

“The reason being that the current location is within a confined space of the hospital, which has infections hazards for the staff and the other patients.”

PMGH cardiologist and director for Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institution, Professor Sir Isu Keva, also thanked MAPNG for their timely donation.

“We are very thankful for the Malaysian community for giving the extra support that is solely needed for cardiac machines for heart patients.”

He adds that the cost of an electro-cardiograph and eco-cardiograph is close to over K500,000, and the K30,000 will go towards the purchase these equipment.

This year marks 17 years of the work of MAPNG in the country.
