14yo girl found hanging: Suicide or foul play?

A 14-year-old girl from Morobe Province was one of two suicide cases that were reported over the weekend in Lae.

The deceased, reportedly a Grade Four student at the Christ the King Primary School at 10-Mile, was found hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling timbers.

According to Chief Inspector Timothy Pomoso, the 14yo was found by relatives who called the police.

He said CID found some marks and bruises on the body of the deceased; there is a possibility of a case of abuse that may have led to the suicide of this young girl. However, this is yet to be proven as investigation continues.

She was found dead on Sunday between 3 to 4pm; the girl was identified as one Sandra Didi, from Delta village in Morobe Province who resided at Busanium area, Taiwan market.

Meanwhile, another man from Kairuru Island was also found dead with a wire around his neck – again in a hangman state in the early hours of Sunday morning.

This was at the Angau compound.

The incident was reported around 8am however, the relatives of the man had wished for privacy and wanted the body to be buried immediately, says Pomoso.
