Time to reflect and forgive

Christmas is a time for reflection and a time to forgive one another.

Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP, John Rosso, during his visit to Lae’s Buimo prison, urged attendees to forgive one another, adding no one is perfect.

“It is a time to reflect on our lives, time to improve on our lives, time to fix our lives,” said the DPM.

“Planti taim mi save tok ya, nogat nupla man bai kam senisim laif blo yumi. Yumi yet bai senisim laif blo yumi wanwan.

DPM Rosso said when you reflect, you will realise that you alone are the cause of your choices; you decide whether to work, consume alcohol or smoke.

“So when you make these decisions, they determine which path you will follow, whether you will do what is right or wrong.

“Many a time, we blame others for our problems. When a child does not go to school, he will blame his parents. When an employee does not perform well or does not get promoted, the boss will be blamed.

“But the employee forgets that because of his attitude, he did not get a promotion.

“The child forgets that it is up to him – whether he’s hungry or not – to go to school.

“Parents also blame the government, forgetting that they themselves decided to create these children; the children did not make this decision, nor did the government.

“They too shirk their responsibilities.”

DPM Rosso believes citizens should start taking ownership of their destinies, and put an end to the blame game.
