PIH opens new fitness centre

Your wealth may not last the lifetime but your health can!

Minister for Health & HIV/AIDS, Michael Malabag, said this during the opening of the new PIH Fitness Centre today.

“It is yet another milestone by PIH in their quest for advanced healthcare for PNG. Your body is the most priceless possession you have and you must take care of it.”

Malabag stated that the fitness centre will add yet another dimension to the patient rehabilitation and wellbeing at PIH.

“The daily grind plus pressures of work and life do take its toll and tend to make us complacent, as a result we pay scant attention to keeping our body fit. A facility like this would always truly motivate and compel a person to exercise and achieve the elusive ‘Work - Life Balance’.”

The Minister complimented the PIH Management for setting up a world-class fitness centre.

“Combined with the Recreation and Sports Area, it would be a healthy option after a hard day’s work. Being healthy and fit isn't a fad or a trend, it's a lifestyle choice and decision,” said Malabag.

“We all should invest in our own well-being and contribute towards building a healthy nation.”

The brand new facility includes:

  • Treadmills
  • Exercise cycles
  • Elliptical machines
  • Seated rowing machine
  • Cross-over unit
  • Smith machine
  • Leg curl/ extension machine
  • Multi station
  • Set of weights

There is also a separate Sports & Recreation Area with a pool table and table tennis table.
