Heart patient donates to fire appeal

In a selfless act of kindness, a heart patient has donated some of his fundraising proceeds towards the Hanuabada fire appeal.

Fundraising appeal for Charlie Morea was launched last Saturday, 19 August, at the home village, Porebada.

This event raised more than K3000 and K4000 more in pledges.

The committee for Charlie Morea’s fundraising appeal has donated about K700 from the proceeds of the first fundraising.

“We had two musicians, Dokona Manoka and Mark Tau, who performed at this first fundraising. These two are married to Hanuabada and also lost their homes in the fire. So in a show of appreciation for what they did, we are donating some funds back to them,” said Dairi Momoru, a committee in the fundraising appeal.

The group, including Charlie Morea, was in Hanuabada yesterday afternoon to make their donation.

Charlie Morea has a heart condition that needs immediate attention.

The fundraising committee aims to raise at least K100,000 for Morea to undergo operation in Manila, the Philippines, in December.

The committee has four months to raise these funds.

Next fundraising will be at the Pondo Tavern, Crowne Plaza, on September 15.
