HB Fire captured in art

Local artist Jeffrey Feeger has captured the first Hanuabada fire incident in his recent product.

‘Thinking of you, Hanuabada' is Feeger’s representation of the tragic fire of Hanuabada, inspired by photos posted online.

The 100 x 100cm acrylic on canvas painting retells the unfortunate event on Saturday, August 19, which destroyed 15 houses.

The painting sees the sun trying to break through the thick smoke from the burning houses. A few roofs and house posts still burning. Towards the backdrop is the rest of the village and Port Moresby's developing CBD.

Feeger painted this live, over 2 days, at the PNG International Business Summit 2017 in Brisbane last Wednesday.

It was auctioned and purchased by a business in PNG.

A proportion from this sale would be donated to the Hanuabada fire appeal.

“We are exploring the children's educational needs. All funds will be spent directly for the future education of the victim’s children. Much to find out first, however our pledge still stands strong,” said Jeffry Feeger Art’s manager, Rae Kataha Smart
