Children’s ministry backs fire appeal

A children and youth ministry in Port Moresby raised funds then donated them to the Hanuabada fire appeal.

The Lakani Toi Memorial Church - Children and Youth Ministry (LTMC CYM) on the weekend gave K4,200 to the appeal.

“As an organisation in the church, there are always events, programs and activities that are set for its yearly running. This year, our main activity was used as a platform to raise funds for our members who had been affected by the fire,” CYM chairman Udu Rei said.

The LTMC CYM had staged an event to showcase young talents through singing, dancing, acting and fishing, among others, to help the children and young people in identifying their talents and skills that God has given them.

The theme for the rally was "Working Together" based on 1 Corinthians 12:14, "For the body is not one member, but many".

“In essence, this is the simplest and clearest statement about teamwork in the Bible. The body of Christ, or the people that are the whole of humanity, are a team,” said the chairman.

“The body is not supported by one person, but by all of us. We are one, we are strongest working together in unity. Teamwork is the key to living life in harmony, so that we can do God's will.”

Rei extended his heartfelt thanks to the groups and individuals who supported their Fire Appeal Concert on the 22nd of September.

The LTMCCYM is a ministry group that has about 600 members (children and young people).
