Students set the bar

Over 300 students from the Honiara locality have set the pace for what promises to be a vibrant and enigmatic cultural experience.

The primary to high school students welcomed the 2018 Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival participants in true Pacific style contemporary fashion with an homage to the Melanesian spirit of unity and peace.

Each body was decked up in gold, white and green – symbolic to the festival host.

Participants watched in awe as they wowed the crowds at Lawson Tama on Sunday during the festival’s opening ceremony.

The students were tasked to deliver on the theme of the festival which is 'Past Recollections, Future Connections' which saw them give a two hour performance that culminated with a fireworks send off.

The festival started on July 1st and will close up on July 10th.
