Lion King cast including Beyoncé face their animal selves

Jon Favreau, director of the soon to be released reimagining of animated classic The Lion King, has shared photos of the film's star studded cast.

 The idea of Donald Glover ( also known as Childish Gambino) as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and Chiwetel Ejofor as the villainous Scar already had many excited.

These new photos ramp up fan anticipation a gear by depicting the cast facing the computer animated characters they help bring to life.

James Earl Jones who voices King Mufasa in both version of the film is absent but Luke Cage star Alfre Woodard is with Queen Sarabi, and JD McCrary and Us' Shadadi Wright Joseph are across from younger incarnations of Simba and Nala.

Comedians assemble as Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, and John Oliver face Timon, Pumbaa, and Zazu, while the for once calm hyena pack look on at Key and Peele's Keegan Michael-Key, Eric Andre, and German actor Florence Kasumba who is best known for playing a member of Wakanda's Dora Milaje royal guard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Lion King is in New Zealand cinemas on July 17.
