Help support Digaso festival!

Business houses and individuals have been invited to support the 2017 Kutubu Kundu and Digaso Festival.

The local organising committee is inviting interested persons/groups to support their fundraising dinner on Friday, August 11, in Port Moresby.

The dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn and will help organisers prepare for this year’s 7th Kutubu Kundu and Digaso Festival. Tickets are selling from K500 per person and K5000 for a table of 10.

Funds raised from the dinner will support the energy, aspirations and appreciation for this year’s festival, says Andrew Igimabo, KK&DF deputy chairman.

Igimabo also thanked the many sponsors, guests, donors and volunteers who made the previous festivals a successful and fun event.

“This is a community driven initiative that promotes collaboration and learning for local communities from the region,” he said

The Kundu and Digaso Festival celebrates the importance of Kutubu Kundu and Digaso Oil and plays a vital role in safeguarding traditional practices and the diverse biodiversity of the Lake Kutubu Region.

This year’s theme is “My Song, My Dance, My Story, saving my home for tomorrow”. The event will be held from 22 -23 September, in Kutubu.

This important forum allows local Indigenous cultures to further develop an already deep people-to-people connection that they share with their land and culture with neighbours in PNG and abroad.

Since its inception in 2011, the festival has brought together people from more than 40 local communities from Bosavi, Kutubu, Kikori, Hela and Nipa, the country and abroad to share their cultures and establish deeper understanding and friendship.
