‘No More’

Local female artist Mereani Masani has made a statement with her recent single.

No More was released yesterday on Human Rights Day.

To mark its release, Masani made an appearance at the mini human rights concert in Port Moresby.

She was not performing alone. With her on stage was her newly-formed girl band, providing backup vocals and playing instruments.

She said this song is in memory of the countless victims of violence, particularly the female population in the country.

No More is a call to the male population to stand up and end violence against women.

Ol papa blo me weh? Ol brata yupla stap weh?

Bungim han, sanap strong

Tok nogat long violence

No more bagarapim mama, No more bagarapim susa

Bungim han, sanap strong

Tok nogat long violence

The video was also uploaded on her official Facebook page.

She thanked the team behind the release - MGR Studios for the production of the video, Max Effect for the cover pictures and lyric video.

But it was her girl band that stood out.

“My heart smiles when we make music together. Thank you for coming on this incredible GIRL POWER journey with me. We are only just getting started and I cannot believe our journey so far,” she wrote.

“I dedicate this song to all our female victims of domestic violence and I pray that you find hope, courage and strength in this song and that you always remember you are BEAUTIFUL and BRAVE and possess a heart of a WARRIOR like the Island Queen that you are.”
