I have support across Yangoru-Saussia: Maru

Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru is confident the people of Yangoru – Saussia will give him a second term in office.

Maru in an interview with Loop PNG said he had done more compared to past Yangoru – Saussia Members of Parliament.

“I think, I have a very good chance to return, the people have seen transformation (infrastructures and services delivery) not seen in the last 40 years.”

Maru said within his five year reign, more roads were constructed linking villages not connected by road before.

He added that for the first time, the District Development Authority (DDA) is subsidizing school fees for students attending tertiary institutions, an improved law and order and more classrooms and aid posts built.

Maru claimed, he had more support compared to the 2012 National Election.

“Last Thursday at my own home, people of Yangoru – Saussia walked up and gave K100,000 in cash, contributed to fund my election.

“That is a clear indication that the people are right behind me.

“I have the support right across the entire four LLGs, I did not have the support in my last election, that I must say,” Maru told Loop PNG.

Sixteen candidates will be contesting in this election, and will try to lure voters across Numbo, Sausso, East Yangoru and West Yangoru local level government areas.

Yangoru – Saussia is one of the six electorates in East Sepik Province.
