Country Party have endorsed 40 candidates throughout the country with a notable former deputy prime minister as its most high profile candidate.
Party president Nelson Duwabane said, the Country Party has endorsed 40 candidates under the leadership of Chris Haiveta, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.
The former Gulf Governor is contesting for the Gulf Provincial seat, held by People’s National Congress (PNC) strongman, Havila Kavo.
Duwabane said the party policy is to promote and invest heavily in the primary sector.
He said, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, livestock, and tourism sectors will provide majority of our people with the means and capacity to cater for their sustenance, whilst the industry will sustain the country at the macroeconomic level.
“For the most part, we need more investment in agriculture and diversification into agro-processing and manufacturing to sustain the economy.
“The monies from the non-renewable sector must be invested in the renewable sector to finance the budget and to create employment and income earning opportunities,” Duwabane said.
